Looking for a song
In ancient days of yore I had a burnt cd with a playlist I can’t remember and a song I’ve struggled to track down. I would swear that I could remember some of the lyrics, but I’ve been unable to find a google result for them. I’m hoping someone might recognize it here.
The sound was a deep male voice singing with a kind orchestral echo. The track itself was this overproduced synth wave or darkwave kind of thing, trying to be epic and ethereal to match the subject matter. The narrative of the song was written from the perspective of Lucifer in a paradise lost kind of way. The snippets of lyrics I can remember, as I remember them, were something like as follows:
“As my wings crash into (through?) the ocean/I will love you though I’ve lost my honor/ remember me in glory/ not on (locked in?) fire eternally”
“Freedom is much deeper than the sea”/“pride (something something) from the heart of me”
I went down a few rabbit holes chasing after it. I thought maybe it was VNV nation or something but that wasn’t it. The actual burnt CD was labeled “angels in exile” but I don’t know that that has anything to do with it. Some googling of the premise took me to Regenerator, but while it’s a close vibe it’s not the same band.
Any help would be vastly appreciated. This has been driving me nuts for weeks.

goth song recs that are more upbeat/driving/energetic?
i'd love more song recommendations for more upbeat songs, not upbeat as in happy, but like, good driving beats or more hardcore! i like sisters of mercy a lot and i'd like to branch out to more subgenres too

What was your gateway song into Goth?
mine was Lucretia My Reflection, and I know this song might be overplayed and probably “been there done that” but for real this song is fuckin’ amazing especially for someone new to the music. the Sisters did a good job making sure I’m in it for the long haul.
what was yours?
