I could use some specific music suggestions.

I'm probably going to come off as a snob here, but when it comes to my musical tastes, I am indeed a bit of a snob, so bear with me, I'm not judging anyone's tastes.

For the most part, I like music with meaningful lyrics that tell a story – that's one of the reasons I love The Cure so much. The old classics – Bauhaus, SoM, Siouxsie, Fields of the Nephilim and so forth – most of their songs tell a story. I like music that just sounds good and has a beat you can dance to as much as the next guy, but I need more than that.

Recently, I checked out a few of the newer bands I see mentioned here – She Past Away, in particular – and I honestly wasn't impressed. The melodies were repetitive and the lyrics were kind of inane – just sp00ky words repeated. It was enjoyable enough, but I would quickly get bored with it without some more variety.

I would love to explore more goth music from the 2000s to now, so given everything I've written here, what would you recommend? TIA.

I’ll be visiting NYC late august/early September. Are there any shows, clubs, or shops anyone here could recommend? ^__^

I’m a music producer helping a friend finish a dark wave album, is there a documentary or YouTube videos that could give me a bit of history? I’d like to know a bit about the process or decision making/ cultural relevance behind core elements

Any links would be gravely appreciated, I will come back and post the album once we’re done.

If you could pick any two goth artist/bands dead or alive to collab to make a full album who would you pick and why?

I would pick Twin Tribes and Sioux and the Banshees because I think they would make something very interesting and experimental. I know Twin tribes does a good job working with other artist to like the features from geometric vision and she passed away. It sounded very cohesive and not like it was them then the other band but it blended very well imo. Or I would pick London After Midnight or Molchat Doma to pair withSwitch blade symphony. I feel like they would create something very atmospheric, dark, and beautiful and really highlight each others sounds. So if i could i would pick these. Who would you pick?
