Teen Gothic

As the title says I'm currently making a playlist for my mom, I do really like goth music but I'm more of a punk myself so I really don't know any good songs. Here are some examples of songs I know we both like and I plan on looking into the bands further and seeing what else they have made but yeah. Please help 🙂 song or band recommendations would be very greatly appreciated.

hi i’m (f19) located in an area where there’s literally no goth nights/clubs/events at all and i really want to go to one. the closest one that i’ve heard about are hours away and it’s not that frequent so that’s just not an option for me. i was watching one of my favorite youtubers and she said something along the lines of “if there’s no goth nights near you, consider just making your own.” and i was like “yeah let’s do it.” i asked some of my other alternative friends (metal heads,grunge,emo,etc) if they’d be interested and they’re down too. i guess it’ll just be more of an alternative party now since everyone has their own niche. anyways enough rambling, i don’t know how to go about this. i can’t have it at my house and i’m pretty sure they can’t have it at theirs. i don’t have enough money to rent out a space and it’s too cold to have it outside at like a park or something. i’m also very shy i’ve always just kept to myself growing up although i really did want more friends, i’m nervous that people would say that they’d show up and then it’s only me and my best friend there (that’s happened to me before). the people i invited it’s like we talk every now and then but that’s really all yk ? i’m feeling quite discouraged idk what to do i’ve never done this before. i’m working on the playlist and atm it’s mostly goth songs that i like, but now i’m worried that everyone else won’t like it and then they won’t dance. i’m so confused 😭 i apologize for this being all over the place i just- yeah.

TLDR: i don’t have a place to have the party, i’m not sure if anyone would come, and i’m not sure if they’d like the music. i’m very confused and conflicted.

I dunno if it's me, but I have the hardest time making goth friends. I'm newish to my local scene, it's very active and I go to alot of the same events, I dance, I sit amongst the crowds, but besides the passing compliment on my outfit, that's as far as it goes. I've observed people stick to their friends group and not venture out. Some regulars have recognized my attendance and say hi, maybe add on social media but go back to their friends group.

I went out recently and almost none talked to me besides compliments on my fashion. It's nice and i say thank you but I crave more.

I admit I'm shy and I should take the first move but last night literally everyone was already in a conversation with their friend group or couples so I ended up talking to no one.

Help? What am I doing wrong? Its getting quite lonely in these bat caves.

i saw someone making diy patches for their jacket on r/punk and i wanted to do the same but mainly featuring the goth bands i like.

i got an old jean jacket from my stepdad to put the patches on, and also some old black denim jeans to cut up to actually make into the patches. i’m gonna use acrylic paint but i am kinda worried that it will flake off, so i might hold off on the painting part.

also the first patch i’m making is the cure, i cannot help it. they’re too good.

I went to see Sisters of Mercy last night and, while there, my friend (another goth) and I tried to make friends as we don't have a big scene where we live. Mind you, it wasn't like we were harrassing people during the show, we were making small talk at the bar before the show. The overwhelming experience we had was negative. Most people seemed genuinely upset that we spoke to them which is something my friend and I had never experienced. My friend asked someone about their hair color because it was similar to hers, and the goth she spoke to seemed annoyed. We gave up right before SoM came on and just kept to ourselves but it definitely left us feeling dejected.

Is this a normal experience in the goth community? We don't have any goth bars near us so this was really the only chance we had to meet other like minded people in the scene and I guess I'm just a bit sad with how it turned out.
