What are your thoughts on goth djs posting (or not posting) track lists of their sets on socials afterwards?

I ask this from the perspective of a conflicted dj that is used to electronic music events where it's rarely a request from the audience. In those situations the music is always mixed continuously and the crowd realize they are going to hear music that is new for them and are down. At best they'll get a recording over a tracklist. People ask for IDs of specific tracks and it's usually other djs asking. I've heard people call this Trainspotting.🙃

I started getting invited to play goth shows a handful of years ago and noticed other goth djs posting their tracklists afterwards. It was interesting to see commentary that followed by people sizing up their opinion based on the music played. The way I get feedback as a dj in the goth community is completely different too. I tried recording my sets and people asked for the tracklist as a substitute. People have told me the tracklist makes it easier for them to keep dancing and laying off Shazam while at the club. I am nearly positive posting a tracklist led to another gig opportunity from a promoter that wasn't even at the show where it happened.

The only issue for me is it's hard to write down a tracklist while I am djing. I am usually busy with other things. Also at other times I notice what makes for the best track to play in the moment might not always be the most impressive looking tracklist compared to other shows.

I like the idea of posting tracklists because people who are on a similar wavelength will see where I am coming from musically. I was just caught off guard by how prevalent it is in my area. Is it the same for you where you live? Do goth djs often post track lists and use them to show people how the night went? Does it make or break whether you'd be willing to give a night a shot for the first time over whether they are posted or what is in them?

Bass guitar in goth music

This is kinda random but I Really love how bass guitar is more prominent in goth music. Just coming from metal, its refreshing lol.

Any goth or goth-adjacent groups that sing in Italian?

I'm learning Italian, so it would be nice to do so with music I like. Preferably with music whose lyrics are available on the Internet.

I know and love the work of Italian groups like The Frozen Autumn and Kirlian Camera, but I don't think they have any songs in Italian.

The only group I've found so far that meets this criterion is the deathrock group Le Vene di Lucretia, which I love, but I can't find their lyrics transcribed anywhere.

EDIT: And when I say goth-adjacent, I mean that in the broadest sense, up to and including bouncy futurepop, although something more identifiably gothic in aesthetic would be nice too.

German Goth sub “r/gruftis” 😊

Hey!

(German below)

I don't know if you Germans or German speaking (DACH and others, of course) goth(fan)s already know, but there's a German Goth subreddit called "r/gruftis"!

They even have their own Discord server (if that's for you), linked in the description! 💥

There's currently only 22 members, so I thought I'd make a bit advertisement for them, although I'm not one of their admins and they don't know me LOL. But, if you're like me, interested in regional or local events, meet ups etc. or just want to chat about music (and also organizing concerts together?) and feel like this subreddit is US, UK and Australia centric (no offense, I like you 🖤), then "r/gruftis" might be your place.

Want to chat about something which doesn't need it's own thread? Do it here!

Feel free to discuss music, fashion, events, DIY projects, etc. and anything relating to goth as long as it's in line with the subreddit rules.

Need help with my damn hair!!

I “dress” goth for work why the fuck not, right? Well, I need help learning how to UNtease my hair without (what feels like) losing half of my hair! I have super super long hair (down to my butt) so it takes a LOT of teasing to do for my hair, but brushing it out and washing it hurts so much and my hands end up sore. Is there a safe way to do this? Is my hair just too long?

Baby bat: I just like post-punk

(Baby bat here) (I would even say a newborn baby bat)

I'm already a metalhead. I enjoy trash, groove, gothic, occult, doom, alternative, etc. On the rock scene, I like hard rock, psychedelic, blues, stoner and more. I have searched, and it appears that gothic metal, symphonic metal and occult rock aren't in the gothic subculture. I have been more interested in the goth scene because of aesthetics, books and movies, but of course, I also like the music. Until now, what I genuinely appreciated in goth music was post-punk. I really didn't like dark or cold waves. Likewise, am I goth, even just liking post-punk?

Edit: of all subreddits that I go to, the r/goth are the one were have the most kind ones!
