Is there anything else like Fields Of The Nephilim’s album “Elizium”.

I know it had a Pink Floyd influence but besides that I was thinking any other bands and even artists. I have come across some bands that sounded close enough like Lycia (Well kind of). I would say it doesn't have to be goth but that would probably break the second rule.

I don’t even know what I was going for, but I like how it turned out.

I took off some patches to cover up the old The Smiths logo I painted on there so I need to add them back.

I feel like being goth is so much simpler than people want to make it out to be

Maybe I'm just oversimplifying it, but it really seems like only one core tenant needs to truly be met to claim oneself as goth: listen to and appreciate the music. If the music isn't goth, there's nothing wrong with that, but the subculture is based around the music.

Bonus points for the makeup, the clothing, the philosophies, the books, the movies, etc. But being goth is really so straightforward, at least in my mind.

online goth community has so much potential but i feel like its wasted

i've noticed on social media that the comment section on 90% of a goth-related post is just people arguing between about what is goth and what isnt, the difference between goth and gothic, what music is goth and what isnt, etc. dont get me wrong, i believe that it is very important for people to help educate others in a respectful way. but i feel like a lot of the times the way its done is either mean or straight up spreading misinformation.

i just watched a makeup transition video of someone most-likely outside of the subculture but i have no way to know. she did a "goth look" and it definitely wasnt trad goth but it looked very romantic goth. and almost every single comment was people correcting her – in a mean or passive-aggressive way. some were super condescending, explaining the difference between "goth" and "gothic" and others were saying stuff along the lines of "you arent goth do some research" but really, at the end of the day, does it matter? yes and no. most people outside of the community dont know the difference between certain words or phrases within the community, and its great to help inform others who dont know. but the way its done is just so… mean :/

also someone commented (and i quote) "you cant just do goth makeup. if its a one off thing, sure!". this was so weird to me because who is going to stop her? quite literally lol. like is someone gonna go up to someone and say "hey you have to take off that makeup look because you dont listen to the music"

i hope one day we all come together and fully respect others, and embrace this subculture as one. informing others who are curious, and not gatekeeping a beautiful thing. for right now i think im going to step away from the online goth community – and local community and embrace the subculture by myself for awhile.

what are people's thoughts? am i overreacting?

Any bands that sound like Earth Calling Angela?

I’ve recently started getting into goth music, and I really like the band Earth Calling Angela. I’m not too familiar with subgenres of goth music, but their album “Hope Springs Eternal” is really good, and I would like to find more similar sounding artists. If you have any recommendations, please share them. Thank you!

What is that one band that most goths seem to like but you just don’t?

For me it's Christian Death I'm still trying to get into them but I don't understand why they are so loved I didn't find anything special or particularly enjoyable about them.

And if I'm being honest? I really like goth music but I haven't found bands that I like a lot of their songs. I consider myself a fan of the genre and not a fan of any band/artist.

Deathrock/gothrock band recommendations that sound like Virgin in Veil ?

I've been trying to find other goth bands that have similar vocals to Virgin in Veil with the same deathrock sound but I've had poor luck. Any and all recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Does anyone else feel like it’s winter when they listen to gothic rock?

Lol I'm just wondering if it's just me. I live in a warm country but winter is my passion (literally) I feel so good when it's winter outside and I like to sit at night with the air conditioner on and listen to bands like London after Midnight, Twin Tribes and Horror Vacui and they just give me that feeling lol Does this happen to you too?

I also listen to metal, mainly thrash and melodeath for those who know and I really like metal but it doesn't give me the same feeling except maybe a couple bands. I think it's the atmosphere that gives this vibe.
