Feel free to discuss music, fashion, events, DIY projects, etc. and anything relating to goth as long as it's in line with the subreddit rules.

I tend to look for songs with either powerful vocals or powerful instrumentals. An immediate turn off for me is when the vocals are completely overshadowed by the instrumentals.

I know a lot of the music I will place here to show what I mean will likely not be goth, since I'm still learning about the Goth scene. But all suggestions are good suggestions imo. Also if any of them are Goth inform me. I want to make a goth playlist on my Spotify and knowing is half the battle. Plus I want to be able to learn to have a better ear to tell what genres are what.

Is synth-pop goth? So, I listen to genres like gothic rock, death rock, dark post punk and darkwave. I've come up to some synth-pop songs I really like, and I've found some in goth playlists. Idk if it's a goth subgenre tho

For goths that are 40 or above, have you ever been dissed by someone, whether they were a goth or a non-goth, about you still being in the scene at your age?

I ask this as a 20 something babybat with bad skin, who is already self-conscious about whether or not I'm pulling it off or not.

Do you ever get self-conscious about it?

My fav songs are Attica, Malarone and decoherence.

For me, it was having a friend as a kid whose older sister dressed alternative and we tried copying her. The friend grew out of it but it caused me to be fascinated with goth and I wanted to get into it. I also had a fascination with alternative characters on tv.

Was wondering if anyone could help with some names. Looking for something different and that will stand out.
