“Sharp Teeth” by Specimen. Has been in my head for a week. I find myself singing it without realizing. I need help. And sleep.

Are my feelings invalid?

I work at a school and every once in a while schools do spirit week or spirit day. They do Disney day or crazy sock day sometimes even sports day. These are just examples of the usual. Well this Friday is goth day. It’s for spirit day. They told the kids to basically dress like Wednesday Addams to “fit in”. I consider myself to have a gothic style and I listen to gothic bands. I don’t dress like my norm at work since I work around kids. I dress casual and comfortable just because I always have to be on my feet. Well, I kind of want to say something to my admin about me feeling negative towards this, but I don’t want to do it if my feelings are just dumb and I should just ignore them. Are my feelings valid for feeling some type of way towards this?

Which relatively well-known goth bands just didn’t click with you?

For the life of me, I can't get into Lycia or London After Midnight. I'm tired of The Mission. Andi Sexgang's solo work has bizarre lyrics, even more abstract than Sex Gang Children (whose work I do like), and something about it sets my teeth on edge.

I'm not saying that any of this music is bad, just not my thing.

Which goth bands and musicians aren't your cup of tea?

What would you tell to these people ?

For context : I consider myself a baby bat, because even tho I've been really interested in goth culture since quite a long time, I started listening to the music only recently. Btw if you have any bands similar to The Sisters of Mercy to suggest to me, feel free to do it.

I wanted to know what goth meant for people, and I fell upon these comments : https://imgur.com/N4YvZfA

I am very curious : what would you answer to these people ? I'm only 21 so I have no idea how goth scene was before. Did goth always meant "fan of goth music", or did it changed ?
