A lot of Modern Goth bands sound all similar

This is not a complaint, I just wanted to post this to see if someone else also thinks the same. I feel like a lot of modern Goth Rock/Post-Punk/Darkwave bands sound the same. Don't get me wrong, I love some of the new bands, but there are a lot that replicate a sound and don't have their own personality in their music. A lot of the new bands just use reverb and delay in their guitar, play a bass line inspired by Peter Hook and the singer sings with a deep and emotionless voice. They all try to sound like Joy Division or Molchat Doma, but never actually sound as good as them and it just ends up sounding a bit repetitive. Because of this I almost always find myself looking for underground records of the 80s, because I feel the music was more varied and had more emotion or more creativity. Again, just want to make clear, that I don't think ALL of the modern bands do this and sound all the same.

Underrated Artist: Merciful Nuns: Some call them a SoM knockoff, some call them based. I wish goths talked about this band more. Their sound is phenomenal!

Very good track, alongside “The Broken Ones”. Great album overall, tbh. Do y’all have any other female goth artist recs that sound similar to DD?

Ritual’s album Songs for a Dead King. The third song you start to hear the early goth sound.

Bands/songs that have the same sound as the Cures disintegration?

I love this album and the sound of all of the songs and I’ve found some other bands that have similar sounds but I love listening to new music so please give recommendations! 🙂

What are some actual goth bands that have a doom-ey sound like HIM’s Love Metal or That Band That Shall Not Be Named On This Sub?

Yes I know they aren’t actual/proper/true goth and more like goth metal but whatever. Looking for either more specifically like that or “actual” goth with similar sound. Specifically the super dark and heavy bass and the super deep almost droning male lead vocals. And the low key auto tune shit TO- does with the vocals in some songs

I’m not really a goth or at least I don’t think of myself as one but I will say this stuff is my jam once November swings around. It’s so fitting for when all the green turns to brown and it gets dark earlier. And smoking a cigarette to this music in the depths of winter on a full moon? The world lit up by the moonlight off snow as the world is like frozen in glass? Chills

I’m looking for bands that sound similar to or have the same vibe as London After Midnight.

Any recommendations?

Can anyone tell me what genres they hear in this demo? I was going for a darkwave sound by the way, thank you in advance!

Can anyone suggest bands/albums that sound like Mephisto Walz – Terra Regina?

This has been one of my favorite albums since its release to just chill to at home or while gaming.

I've recently started looking for more music in this vein (I recall there being a ton back in the 90s) but I cannot for the life of my find anything now that sounds like this album, so here I am, consulting the spiders of the interwebs.
