Yeah lol

Maybe this isn't the right place to post this, and I'm sorry if it's not!

I recently moved to a new city for college! I've met so many awesome, genuine people and feel so much joy with them. However, I want to interact with more people that I resonate with on a deeper level in terms of lifestyle/culture. I want to find people that understand my music and art and style!

Where can I go or what kinds of things should I do? (If anyone is in Nashville, hmu!!)

I’m one of the very few goth people at my college, and live in a very conservative region. people coming up to me in public and asking if they can pray for me or pray over me has become almost a weekly occurrence. it drives me fucking insane. i usually politely decline, but have gotten to a point where i just go along with it because i don’t want to deal with them trying to convince me.
they see a goth person and assume i must be some poor tortured soul corrupted by satan and legions of demons, when in reality i’m just melodramatic, love joy division, and look good in black. any advice on how to deter or respond to christian’s?

I know similar questions to this have been asked in the past but I read the replies and didn't really find what I was looking for. Whenever I (22) go to goth nights at the local club I always just dance with my friends and don’t really talk to anyone besides them. I want to meet more people though. I always heard people don’t like being talked to when dancing but I don’t know if that’s actually true or how else I’d really meet people at the club (besides maybe chat at the bar or something). If people don't mind being talked to on the dance floor, I don’t even know how I’d do it though without being awkward/intrusive. What do you all with more experience at clubs think?

For context : I consider myself a baby bat, because even tho I've been really interested in goth culture since quite a long time, I started listening to the music only recently. Btw if you have any bands similar to The Sisters of Mercy to suggest to me, feel free to do it.

I am very curious : what would you answer to these people ? I'm only 21 so I have no idea how goth scene was before. Did goth always meant "fan of goth music", or did it changed ?

I've been doing a lot of research on the Sophie Lancaster case, and I've only now started to notice the amount of harassment I, and many other alternative people, have endured even since this happened. I've only been into the scene for 4 years, I'm in 8th grade now. I actually look a lot like Sophie, I can relate to her a lot, and her case definitely made me realize how ignorant people can be. I already knew that in the first place, but her case truly did blow my mind on how the actual fuck someone could attack, and later kill, someone because of how they look.

Last year, when I was In the 7th grade, school had just got out and I was walking out to my dad's car who parked out in the grass. I hear a group of boys behind me start barking at me and making jokes about me. I ignored them just as usual, i would've sped up if I could but I had chunky shoes on.

The school required people to take thier sports equipment home for the weekend, and these boys were on the lacrosse team. I kept ignoring them until I heard "Give me your lacrosse stick, I'm gonna hit him" and I turned around to see what they were talking about. Next thing I knew a boy who I didn't know hit me full on in the stomach with the lacrosse stick, I didn't say anything and just kept walking. I told the school, but they apparently "couldn't do anything about it" despite me having their names, I atleast expected them to get some form of detention, but they didn't. Never got any consequences.

I continued to be harassed by these boys who were never confronted once by onlookers or by staff at the school. Not even my own "friend" stood up for me. After learning about Sophie, I also found I could go to almost all my other goth friends and they would all have a similar story where they have been hit, spat on, or verbally harassed. People's ignorance, It really does boggle my mind.
